Rocky Mountain National Park Trip

Labor day weekend we decided to take the drive & see about hiking in the RMNP. It is only about 2 hours from us. We found a couple "easy" hikes so that we knew the boys could handle them. We first went on a loop around the Bear Lake. It was nice very pretty too. Then we headed up the Alberta Falls trail. It was about 2 miles round trip. Very nice trail and the falls at the end were SO neat to see. The boys thought it was worth it. Although we had to keep reminding the little boys to slow down and not run. We wanted them to save their energy and pace themselves, not to mention not get hurt! We got to the last probably 1/4 mile and it started raining/hail on us. So we had to stop under the trees a couple of times so we could not be totally soaked. About that same time we saw 4 Elk right off the side of the trail. Not just a few feet away from us. I didn't get any pictures because it was so wet. I didn't want to ruin the camera. It was neat we realized we better quietly go by since we didn't know how they would react. We decided that the rain & hail weren't going to let up and it was late in the afternoon so we headed home. It was a good thing cause it just got worse. We had like 2 inches of hail piled on the car & road. On the way home we had the chance to see some Big Horn Sheep just off the side of the canyon road. This was Jeff's highlight, he really thinks they are neat. It was a long but very fun day! I can't wait til we can go again! Here are a few pictures we took.
